Integral Mission Control System (IMCS)

The Integral Mission Operations Centre (MOC) at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) will be used by mission operations staff to perform spacecraft operations. The IMCS is the major component of the MOC which includes:

IMCS is making extensive usage of the ESOC SCOS-2000 infrastructure, which has been designed to be a generic and configurable mission control system.. IMCS customises and extends the SCOS-2000 components and mechanisms for the specific Integral Mission requirements. It is coded in C++ and runs under UNIX Solaris Operating System with the use of a number of COTS.

The IMCS system has been awarded by ESOC to an industrial consortium lead by TERMA Elektronik and composed by:

The work is performed at a total of two sites. The majority of the development, integration and testing work will be performed at TERMA premises in Weiterstadt.

In order to communicate between these sites an Internet based reporting system is used, consisting of four-closed user groups providing communication and reporting on a multi-site basis.

IMCS WWW Services

An important aspect of IMCS is to enable clients and operators to invoke services via WWW browsers in a platform independent manner.

Services are grouped into four areas: the user area, allowing day-to-day technical services to be invoked, the management area, which allows extended services and access to privileged information, the developer area which allows system developers to submit development information, and the maintenance area which allows system maintainers to submit maintenance information.

The areas are protected by password. User names and passwords may be obtained by contacting imcs@terma.com
